Reduced hearing | Tinnitus | Dizziness | Headache
An acoustic neuroma is a type of benign (noncancerous) nerve tumour. A vestibular schwannoma is another name for it. Adults between the ages of 30 and 60 are the most susceptible. If you have persistent symptoms similar to those of an acoustic neuroma, you should consult your doctor (see symptoms section below).
Chilblains
Symptoms Include:
Inflamed | Itch | Swelling | Redness
Inflamed | Itch | Swelling | Redness
Chilblains are tiny, irritating skin swellings that arise as a result of exposure to cold weather. They typically affect the extremities of the body, such as the toes, fingers, ears, and nose. Chilblains are inconvenient, but they rarely result in serious harm. If the cold is avoided, they usually heal in a few weeks.
Cholesteatoma

A cholesteatoma is a collection of abnormal skin cells deep within your ear. They’re uncommon, but they can harm the delicate tissues within your ear that are necessary for hearing and balance if left untreated. If you’re having trouble hearing or have a watery discharge from your ear, see your doctor.
Earache
Symptoms Include:
Pain | Temperature | Swelling | Discharge

Earache is a frequent complaint, especially among children. It can be alarming, but it’s usually caused by a little illness that clears up on its own in a few days. The most prevalent causes of earache are discussed on this page.
Earwax build-up
Symptoms Include:
Hearing loss | Pain | Tinnitus | Itchiness
Hearing loss | Pain | Tinnitus | Itchiness
Earwax is created inside your ears to protect the ear canal’s lining by trapping dirt and keeping water out. It normally passes through the ears unnoticed. Too much can sometimes build up in the ears, causing them to become blocked.

Hyperacusis is a condition in which a person’s intolerance to everyday sounds causes severe distress and interferes with their daily activities. If you’re having trouble coping with noise or ordinary sounds, see your doctor. If necessary, they can refer you to a hospital or a specialist for tests.
Mastoiditis

Mastoiditis is a dangerous bacterial infection of the mastoid bone, which is located behind the ear. Children are more likely to be afflicted, but adults can still be affected.
Ménière’s disease
Symptoms Include:

Ménière’s disease affects the inner ear and is a rare disorder. Vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and a feeling of pressure deep inside the ear are all possible side effects. If you have any of the symptoms of Ménière’s disease, you should see your doctor.
Middle ear infection (otitis media)
Symptoms Include:
Pain | Temperature | Hearing loss | Discharge
Pain | Temperature | Hearing loss | Discharge
An infection of the middle ear is known as otitis media. It causes a build-up of fluid behind the eardrum as well as inflammation (redness and swelling). A middle ear infection can affect anyone, although it is most frequent in newborns aged six to fifteen months.

Otitis externa

Otitis externa is a disorder in which the external ear canal becomes inflamed (red and swollen). This tube connects the outer ear to the eardrum. Although there are other reasons, bacterial infection is the most common cause of the illness. Otitis externa is a very frequent condition.

A perforated eardrum is one that has a hole or tear in it. It is normally not painful, although it can be irritating. If the ear is maintained dry and there is no infection, a ruptured eardrum normally recovers in a few weeks or months.
