Understanding the Benefits of RLT

RLT is a treatment that aids in the healing of the skin, muscle tissue, and other body parts. It exposes you to red or near-infrared light at modest intensities. Infrared light is a sort of energy that your eyes cannot see but that your body perceives as heat. Red light is comparable to infrared light, however, it is invisible.

  • Improved circulation – helps promote the supply of essential nutrients and oxygen to the body’s cells. Poor circulation impairs nourishment and oxygen delivery, which promotes the growth of cancer cells in those tissues. Increasing circulation can help correct this since cancer cells cannot live in high-oxygen environments.
  • Toxin purification of the skin –  from the inside out thanks to sweat production brought on by sauna heat. The efficient circulation and sweating brought on by the sauna’s heat aid in the removal of waste and toxins such as pesticides, pollutants, and heavy metals. Neutralising the body’s built-up acids also maintains a healthy pH balance.
  • Reduces inflammation and oxidative stress – this is important because the conditions favour tumour development and survival. One of the best ways to make our bodies less appealing to malignant cells is to reduce inflammation. Regular use of infrared saunas is a fantastic technique to relieve stress and inflammation.
  • Regulation of the neurological system – Saunas soothe and relieve our sympathetic nervous system, which controls our “fight or flight” response while stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, which controls our “rest and digest” response. Sauna heat has the power to suppress our “fight or flight” response, promoting greater immunological response, detoxification, and digestion.

Other names you might hear to describe RLT include:

  • Low-level laser light therapy
  • Low-power laser therapy
  • Non-thermal LED light
  • Soft laser therapy
  • Cold laser therapy
  • Biostimulation, photonic stimulation
  • Photobiomodulation and phototherapy

Most illnesses and degenerative disorders are thought to be caused by oxidative stress. It also has a role in the inflammatory response to acute and chronic injury. Extensive research over the last two decades has demonstrated that oxidative stress can cause chronic inflammation, which can lead to chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, neurological problems, and pulmonary disease.

RLT has been used to treat pain, inflammation, and oedema for nearly four decades. Red Light’s effects, as scientifically defined, are photochemical, similar to photosynthesis in plants. Light decreases oxidative stress and raises ATP when applied at the proper power, frequency, and application duration. As a result, cell metabolism improves and inflammation decreases. Light is absorbed at the cellular level, lowering oxidative stress and thereby treating the source of inflammation.

How Does RLT Work?

Red light therapy for Fibromyalgia

How Does RLT Work?

RLT involves exposing your skin to a red-light lamp, device, or laser, this causes a metabolic reaction in cells that enhances the mitochondria. Mitochondria, also known as the “power generators” of your cells, absorb it and use it to produce more energy. This, according to some scientists, helps cells repair themselves and grow healthier. This promotes skin and muscular tissue repair. ATP is the energy-carrying chemical found in all living creatures’ cells (adenosine triphosphate).

RLT improves mitochondrial function, allowing a cell to produce more ATP. Cells can perform more efficiently, regenerate themselves, and repair damage with more energy.

RLT differs from a laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapies in that it does not cause skin surface damage. Laser and pulsed light therapies work by inducing tissue restoration by causing controlled damage to the skin’s outer layer. RLT avoids this unpleasant process by boosting skin renewal directly. RLT emits light that penetrates around 5 millimetres beyond the skin’s surface.

The skin is not injured or burned by red light therapy since it employs very low levels of heat. It is not the same type of light used in tanning salons, and it does not expose your skin to UV rays that are harmful to your skin.

Is Red Light Therapy safe

What are the possible side effects?

Are there any red light therapy dangers? Even though researchers aren’t clear on how or why the red light treatment works, it’s usually thought to be safe. There are also no hard and fast guidelines about how much light to use. Too much light can harm skin tissue, while too little can make it less effective.

When administered in a regulated medical setting, RLT is both safe and painless.
On the internet, there are stories of people using Red Light systems in tanning salons and gyms who have suffered from burns and blisters. Burns were reported in a few people after they fell asleep with the unit on, while others were burned by damaged wires or gadget corrosion. There’s also a chance that your eyes will be damaged. Although less harmful to the eyes than typical lasers, red light therapy requires proper eye protection.

What to expect?

What to expect?

The NovoTHOR Whole Body Light Pod can now give RLT to the complete body. It is now the sole system in use in the United Kingdom. You may now get a full-body light treatment that targets inflammation and accelerates repair in just 15 minutes.
The THOR LX2 Control Unit and its three probes can also be used for direct nerve application and trigger point therapy. These help to relieve musculoskeletal pain by reducing pain and relaxing muscle spasms. These sessions last about 10-15 minutes at each site, such as the hip, knee, or ankle.

How many treatments will be required?

That is dependent on you and your body reacting to the treatments, Because each person’s condition is unique, so is their treatment plan.
However, when it comes to RLT, there are certain general guidelines to follow. Acute injuries and inflammation, such as muscle strains and sprains, cuts, bruises, and burns, usually recover quickly and heal in two to four sessions. Long-term, chronic conditions may require as many as ten sessions to achieve significant results, with weekly or bi-weekly sessions required to maintain those results.
If you are sick or have the following symptoms, your treatment session may be postponed.
  • Severe cold or flu
  • Chest infection
  • Runny nose
  • Sickness (nausea)

What will I feel?

Although RLT does not heat tissue, it does stimulate circulation, which causes a warming sensation.
Patients have reported the following outcomes, these may not apply to everyone and they are not intended to imply, promise, represent, or assure that anyone will attain the same or similar outcomes. If any of these occur, please inform our doctor or nurses:
Increased energy, improved sleep patterns, improved mood, improved skin clarity and tone, improved bowel function, decreased oedema of limbs, greater energy, increased mental clarity, and an increased general sense of well-being After treatment, some customers may suffer moderate weariness, pain, or aches. If the responses don’t go away after 24-48 hours.
