• UK based, Data Science Manager

The role

As a Data Science Manager at Pure Medical, you’ll help your team solve business problems by using advanced machine learning, statistical modelling, and optimization techniques to real-world problems for online and offline decision-making. You’ll work as a player coach to solve business-critical problems for a firm that values measurement, testing, and optimization in all aspects of its marketing and customer acquisition efforts. Your efforts will have a significant impact on a company’s bottom line.

What You’ll Do

  • To accomplish targeted business goals, lead a small data science team by establishing technological strategy, creating and managing a project portfolio, measuring data science KPIs, and driving daily execution.
  • Set team priorities, influence work techniques, and address operational/organizational difficulties by effectively collaborating with other functions.
  • You will play a vital role in the data science function’s overarching technological and organisational strategy across the Red Ventures organisation.
  • Act as a player coach to gain a better understanding of corporate strategy and to spot creative data science opportunities that can have a big impact.
  • Through direct leadership, training, and feedback, build a team with a range of seniority and competence.
  • Drive projects forward in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Predict project technical, business, and execution risks and make strategic decisions to mitigate them.
  • Bring appropriate cutting-edge data science technology to the team and set an example for best practices.

What We’re Looking For

    • 4+ years of relevant professional experience and an MS or PhD in STEM with a focus on machine learning, statistical modelling, or optimization.
    • 2+ years of experience leading a team of data scientists is required.
    • Capable of gathering and mining data from a variety of sources, as well as a willingness to delve further into the data’s creation process.
    • Excellent writing and oral communication skills, especially when dealing with uncertainty.
    • Capable of converting business possibilities into data science challenges and determining the appropriate project scope and success metric.
    • Must be able to work in an unstructured, fast-paced, and ever-changing high-growth environment.
    • Applied machine learning experience on huge datasets.
    • Statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and data cleaning/feature engineering are all part of the data science toolkit.
    • Building predictive models in a statistical computing environment is a plus (e.g., R, Python, Sklearn, SPSS, Matlab, Octave).
    • Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Scala, Python, C/C++ Hive/Hadoop, Spark experience with distributed computing.Expertise in deploying data science solutions in a live, production environment, particularly in near-real-time scenarios (ex: models embedded into a REST API).
    • Digital marketing and e-commerce knowledge and experience are a bonus.


Salary Range: £125,000 – £230,000 *Please keep in mind that actual pay is determined by geographic area, qualifications, and experience.
